Scones

Fresh Baked scones.

Wonderful classic goes great with a cup of tea. Scones are served with some Chantilly cream and jam, or divine by themselves. Super quick to make and delicious. Definitely give these a shot.

Ingredients

  • 3 Cups Self-Raising Flour
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Cream
  • 1 1/2 Cups Milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat fan-forced oven to 230°C.
  2. Sift flour and salt together. Make a well and add in cream and milk. Stir briefly with a knife until it forms a shaggy, soft dough.
  3. Turn out onto a floured bench. Knead lightly and only for a short time. (Note 1)
  4. Roll out to 12mm thickness, and cut with a 5cm cutter.
  5. Place onto a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake for 10 minutes.
  6. When finished baking, brush them with butter.

Notes

Note 1: You do not want to work this dough too much, or it will result in dense and heavy scones. The dough will look like it has just come together. That is perfectly fine.
